Tree Groundsman

Job Summary

Duran Tree Care Inc. searching for a skilled tree groundsman to join our tree care company. The duties include assisting climbers and arborists, processing wood debris, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring hazard-free work areas. You should be able to work with a variety of crew members. We are locally owned and operated and have been in the industry for over 14 years and have established a reputation of excellence and dependability. 

To be successful in this role, you should be physically strong and able to work in various weather conditions. Although extreme weather can happen, we strive to work safely and efficiently and will be of the discretion of the foreman and crew. An outstanding tree groundsman should be able to carry out instructions efficiently and complete all maintenance tasks to the highest standard.  Groundsman Responsibilities

• Assisting Arborists with tree removals, pruning, and debris disposals
• Learning techniques and the proper use of tools from senior or more experienced crew members
• Safely using tools and equipment like chippers and chainsaws to carry out maintenance tasks
• Ensuring sites are kept clean and free of hazards
• Inspecting equipment and tools and performing repairs and maintenance when required
• Using the appropriate gear and observing safety protocols
• Reporting issues or safety hazards to the Foreman or other relevant parties.
• Familiarity with safety standards and equipment usage
• Knowledge of tree species and their growth patterns
• Must be able to work in some inclement weather conditions safely
• Adhere to ANSI, OSHA and company guidelines
• Drag brush, move logs, and run ropes as needed
• Experience with tree removals, and rigging
• Ability to identify hazards and prevent damage to persons or property during tree trimming and removal operations
• Directs all personnel working within drop zone
• Coordinates with partner to chip brush as necessary
• Assists other climbers with equipment and roping techniques
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required
• Daily equipment inspection and maintenance
• Carrying out all maintenance duties allocated by the Foreman
• Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions

Tree Groundsman skills

• Bucket Truck operation
• Arial lift operation
• SRT & MRT climbing techniques
• Ability to use various hand tools
• Adherence to Safety Procedures including aerial rescue techniques
• Adherence to ANSI Safety Standards
• Knowledge of rigging, chainsaw, and chipper operations
• Team Player
• Customer Service Oriented

 Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Must have at least 3-5 Years of climbing experience
• Must be able to pass a drug test and background screening
• (Preferred) ISA Certified Arborist or ISA Certified Climber or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire

Compensation

• $17-$22 per hour
